I am a registered dietitian, wife, and mother of two. I am keenly aware of the pressures parents face today trying to meet the demands of work, parenting, after-school activities, and of course, preparing healthy nourishing meals.
I was fortunate to grow up in a home with both parents, grandmother and great-grandmother. There was an ease about life. Both my parents worked but thanks to the strong support of my grandmother, healthy fresh food was always accessible. The presence of these elders offered wisdom and great love that was infused into our home and our food.
Today it is rare to see such multi-generational homes where the workload is balanced among family members. Much of the burden falls on the shoulders of parents, with the lion's share on mothers. Where does acquiring and preparing healthy food fit in?
I want to show you that it is possible to create healthy meals for your family even with your busy life. Change doesn't happen overnight but it can be done. The journey to health can even be fun and energizing!
